Following last weekend's record-breaking debut at Film Forum in NYC; CAA Arts Access, Oscilloscope Laboratories, Columbia University Entertainment, Columbia Pride, and Columbia SoCal are hosting another special screening and Q&A in Los Angeles at Landmark's Nuart Theatre!
After an amazing year on the festival circuit including showings at the Cannes (Winner: Jury Prize - Un Certain Regard), Toronto International, and Sundance film festivals, Joyland, written and directed by Saim Sadiq '19SOA and co-written by Maggie Briggs '19SOA will go into wide release this spring via Oscilloscope. Join us as we celebrate this important occasion with a special screening of the film followed by a live Q&A! The film was also edited by Jasmin Tenucci '20SOA and produced by Apoorva Charan '18SOA and Katharina Otto-Bernstein '86CC, '92SOA.
As the Ranas - a happily patriarchal joint family - yearn for the birth of a baby boy to continue the family line, their youngest son secretly joins an erotic dance theatre and falls for an ambitious trans starlet.
